Anticipation: Celebrating Carly Simon & James Taylor at Brockville Arts Centre | May 1, 2027

By Marc Delacroix · October 7, 2026

The songs are the obvious entry point — “You’re So Vain,” “Fire and Rain,” “Anticipation,” titles so absorbed into the North American songbook that most listeners stopped genuinely hearing them sometime in the 1980s. What Anticipation: Celebrating Carly Simon & James Taylor, Rowen Productions’ touring tribute, sets out to accomplish is something more deliberate than a greatest-hits pass: it pairs the catalog with the personal history underneath it, the documented story of two of the most individually distinctive singer-songwriters of the 1970s, and uses that story as a narrative spine most catalog tributes never bother building. The show has been working through Ontario venues to strong response, and comes to Brockville Arts Centre on Saturday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m.

About the Show

Presented by Rowen Productions, the show has been making its way through Ontario theater stages since early 2026 — dates in Orillia, Guelph, Mississauga, Kingston, and other markets — with 2027 bringing a planned expansion to the East Coast. The Brockville engagement is part of that extended reach. The six-piece ensemble is led for this performance by Daisy Progosh on guitar, piano, and vocals; David Skolnick, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and a consistent presence across the tour, handles guitar, piano, and vocals alongside her. Danny Zaidman contributes guitar and vocals; Mike Wark covers saxophone and flute; Adam Kurgatnikov plays bass; Aaron Spink handles drums and vocals.

The program works through “You’re So Vain,” “Fire and Rain,” “Mockingbird,” “How Sweet It Is,” and the title song “Anticipation” — a catalog with the particular quality of songs that carry biographical weight alongside musical weight, which is what gives this format its logic. Concert materials describe the evening as an exploration of “the beautiful songs, stories behind the music, and love story” between the two performers, framing each number not as a nostalgia exercise but as evidence of where two specific people were during a specific period. The production promises period-faithful arrangements and close harmonies.
