Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening arrives at Proctors in Schenectady on Wednesday, November 25 with a credential no other touring tribute band can claim: its leader was on the drum riser at London’s O2 on December 10, 2007, the night Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones played together for the first time since John Bonham’s death — widely described, without much argument, as the most anticipated concert of all time. That is the frame worth keeping in mind when the lights go down.
About the Show
The band includes James Dylan on lead vocals (co-founder of the project), Akio “Mr. Jimmy” Sakurai on guitar, Dorian Heartsong on bass, and Alex Howland on keyboards and guitar, with Bonham behind the kit. What distinguishes the evening from a standard tribute is the pairing of performances with stories behind the songs, told by Bonham himself from the stage. The band operated from 2010 to 2017 as Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience before being renamed at the request of the remaining Led Zeppelin members. This fall’s Schenectady stop is part of a 24-date North American run spanning November and December 2026. The 2025 tour organized itself around the 50th anniversary of Physical Graffiti; this run carries the catalogue forward. Recent setlists from the fall 2026 run have included “Kashmir,” “Whole Lotta Love,” “Rock and Roll,” “Houses of the Holy,” and “Stairway to Heaven,” with a “Moby Dick” drum solo as the evening’s centerpiece.
Those credentials didn’t start in 2007. Bonham was drumming on a scaled-down kit by age five, in a household where family friends included Jimmy Page. At 17, he joined Air Race, signed to Atlantic Records, and opened for Queen, AC/DC, and Ted Nugent. In 1988, he took his father’s seat at the first-ever Led Zeppelin reunion, at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary concert alongside Plant, Page, and Jones. He represented his father at Led Zeppelin’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1995. The O2 night in 2007 settled whatever question remained. What the Capital Region gets on November 25 is the touring extension of all of that, which is, by definition, the best available version.
