Brit Floyd’s run of Pink Floyd anniversary tours follows a recognizable pattern: The Dark Side of the Moon at 50 in 2023, Wish You Were Here at 50 in 2025. The 2027 Animals 50 tour, stopping at Proctors in Schenectady on Sunday, March 7, puts the tribute act in front of genuinely different material. Where those earlier albums were familiar and widely embraced, Animals (Pink Floyd’s January 1977 studio record, loosely drawn from George Orwell’s Animal Farm) is the outfit’s most unforgiving document: three extended compositions raging at power, inequality, and social division, recorded, as Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason later observed, at the precise moment punk was kicking off.

Rolling Stone named Brit Floyd “The World’s Premiere Pink Floyd Experience,” and the Liverpool-formed ensemble, which formed in 2011 and has logged approximately 1,600 worldwide performances, has earned that framing at venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Radio City Music Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. The nearly three-hour production, created by Palladium Entertainment, performs Animals in full: the suite-like movements “Dogs,” “Pigs (Three Different Ones),” and “Sheep,” which Pink Floyd released between Wish You Were Here and The Wall. The set then expands into the broader catalog, including “Time,” “Money,” “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” “Comfortably Numb,” and “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2.” Immersive visuals, lasers, theatrical staging, and award-winning lighting design are part of the production, along with the inflatable pig that the band has made a visual calling card — a reference to the Battersea Power Station cover art and the real inflatable Algie who, according to legend surrounding the original photo sessions, made an unscheduled departure mid-shoot. Pink Floyd alumni who have performed with Brit Floyd include bassist Guy Pratt, saxophonist Scott Page, and keyboardist Harry Waters. The Schenectady date is one of approximately 39 stops on the first North American leg, which runs February 23 through April 17.
