Yonder Mountain String Band at Paramount Theatre | July 8, 2026

By Nate Calloway · April 8, 2026

The Paramount in Rutland is the kind of room you do not forget. Gold-leaf ceilings, Du Barry rose tapestries, 150 incandescent lights — it reads like someone built a Victorian opera house and just never stopped. Seating begins 30 minutes before showtime, so get there early, find your spot, and take it all in before Yonder Mountain String Band takes the stage.

About Yonder Mountain String Band

If you have followed the progressive bluegrass scene for any stretch of time, Yonder Mountain String Band needs no introduction. The Colorado-based five-piece — Adam Aijala (guitar, vocals), Dave Johnston (banjo, vocals), Ben Kaufmann (bass, vocals), Nick Piccininni (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, vocals), and Coleman Smith (fiddle) — has been at it since 1998, building a reputation for blending acoustic tradition with the kind of improvisational energy you are more likely to expect from a jam band than a string band. That mix is what makes them endlessly worth catching live.

They are touring behind Good As True, released in March 2026, with standout track “Long Ride” already getting rotation among fans. It is their most recent chapter in 25-plus years of recording and touring, and the Rutland date is part of a new run of summer 2026 shows.

About Paramount Theatre

Originally named The Playhouse Theatre, the Paramount was built by George T. Chaffee in 1912–1913 and opened January 16, 1914. It has hosted Will Rogers, Sarah Bernhardt, and Houdini, served as a shelter during the 1927 Vermont flood, and after closing in 1975, came back through an extensive restoration completed in March 2000. The 830-seat room has a classical exterior and a Victorian opera house interior that makes almost any show feel like an occasion.

The Paramount sits at the center of the North Country concert scene — one of our most-watched regions for shows worth the drive.
