Frank Zappa & Captain Beefheart at Palace Theatre — April 24, 1975

[uc_otd_hero_meta]

This was the Bongo Fury Tour — Captain Beefheart’s only tour with Zappa’s band, undertaken partly to help Beefheart through a period of contractual disputes. The lineup included George Duke on keyboards, Napoleon Murphy Brock on sax, Terry Bozzio on drums, and the Fowler brothers. The live tracks on the Bongo Fury album were recorded a month later at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, but the Albany Palace Theatre show was part of the same incendiary run.
