Journey at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium — October 18, 1986

On October 18, 1986, Journey brought the Raised on Radio tour into Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, with Canadian newcomers Glass Tiger opening the night. This was a reshaped Journey: after the departures of bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith, Steve Perry, Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain toured with bassist Randy Jackson and drummer Mike Baird. The fan-documented setlist opened with “Only the Young,” leaned on new songs like “Suzanne,” “Girl Can’t Help It” and “Be Good to Yourself,” slipped in Perry’s solo hit “Oh Sherrie” and a run through Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock,” and closed with “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “Faithfully.” Forty years later, the Aud is long gone, but the setlist from that night still reads like a greatest-hits record in the making.
