Kansas brought the symphonic muscle of “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind”; Styx countered with “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” and “Mr. Roboto.” It was a double dose of the era’s grandest, most ambitious rock — soaring vocals, virtuoso musicianship, and singalong choruses — under the summer sky at one of the region’s signature amphitheaters.
