Megadeth at The Lost Horizon — November 3, 1986

On November 3, 1986, Megadeth played The Lost Horizon in Syracuse, a Monday-night club show on the Wake Up Dead tour, barely six weeks after Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying? hit stores. The night after a stop at Rochester’s Playpen North, Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson tore through “Wake Up Dead,” “The Conjuring,” “Peace Sells,” “Devil’s Island” and “Bad Omen,” reached back to the debut for “Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!” and “Mechanix,” and threw in their sneering cover of “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.” Forty years later, it is a snapshot of thrash’s most volatile band at club-floor distance.
