By late summer 2001, moe. had stopped waiting for someone else to build them a stage. The Buffalo-born jam band planted moe.down in the hills of the Tug Hill Plateau at Snow Ridge Ski Area, and by its second year the festival had already grown into a real weekend — Soulive, Cracker, Donna the Buffalo, The Radiators and The Wailers all shared the bill with the hosts. On this night, moe. played one of three headlining sets across the weekend, deep in a corner of the North Country most touring bands never bothered to find. It was proof the jam scene didn’t need a corporate promoter to throw a party — just a mountain and a band willing to build it themselves.
