Peter Frampton at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium — April 7, 1976

[uc_otd_hero_meta]

Peter Frampton took the stage at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium as the opening act for J. Geils Band — but only barely. Frampton Comes Alive! had been released in January 1976 and was climbing the Billboard 200 like a freight train. Three days after this Buffalo show, the album hit No. 1 for the first time. Frampton was still technically a support act, but the crowd already knew — they were watching the biggest rock star in America before the charts made it official.
