On October 6, 1991, the Ramones brought their two-minute blitz to The Class in Middletown, a Sunday-night club date wedged between Philadelphia’s Chestnut Cabaret the night before and Pearl Street in Northampton, Massachusetts, the night after. This was the Joey, Johnny, Marky and C.J. lineup, the band seven months removed from the March 1991 Barcelona recordings that became Loco Live, still working the East Coast club circuit that had sustained them since the 1970s. The Class spent that fall as Orange County’s loud room, hosting Nuclear Assault, Overkill and Murphy’s Law within weeks of the Ramones’ visit. Thirty-five years on, it stands as the night New York’s founding punk band played Middletown.
