Perinton’s amphitheatre is a municipal park stage that books like a real venue, and the gap between those two things is what makes it interesting. On one night the Rochester Philharmonic plays for free to families on blankets. On another, moe. sells tickets through AXS. Same lawn.
Center Park West
The amphitheatre sits inside Center Park West, a forty-nine-acre town park in Fairport at 1350 Turk Hill Road, roughly fifteen minutes east of Rochester. It is open lawn seating with the sightlines you would expect from a purpose-built outdoor bowl, and the surrounding park means there is genuine space to spread out — this is a venue where arriving early with a blanket and a cooler is the intended experience rather than a workaround.
Fairport itself is worth the extra half hour. The village sits on the Erie Canal, and the canal path and the Main Street lift bridge are a short drive from the park.
Two Different Calendars
Understanding this venue means understanding that it runs two distinct programs.
The first is the Town of Perinton’s Center Stage Concert Series — free, no tickets required, aimed squarely at the community. A typical night has the Fairport High School Band at 6pm followed by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra around 7:30. It is a genuinely lovely civic tradition and one of the better free things to do in Monroe County in the summer.
The second is the ticketed touring calendar, promoted by Rochester Events — the same outfit behind the Highland Bowl in Rochester’s Highland Park. That is where the amphitheatre earns its place in a regional concert guide: JJ Grey & Mofro, Tash Sultana, and moe. have all played here, and the Hoochenanny Festival has taken over the grounds for a multi-day run.
If you are scanning listings, note that the two calendars do not always appear in the same place. Ticketed shows surface through AXS and the usual aggregators; the free series lives on the town’s own recreation pages.
The Seasonal Catch
Like every outdoor room in this part of the state, Perinton is a summer venue. The season runs roughly June through August, and the listings go quiet after that. A blank calendar in October means the season ended, not that the venue is in trouble.
