Albert Cummings at Daryl’s House | November 22, 2026

By Meg Andersen · July 7, 2026

Albert Cummings built his career the same way he builds houses — with his hands, from the ground up, one careful layer at a time. The Massachusetts-based blues guitarist spent years working as a master carpenter before music pulled him fully into its orbit, and that working-class foundation is all over his playing: powerful, patient, built to last. On Sunday, November 22, 2026 at 7:00 PM, Cummings brings his electric blues to Daryl’s House in Pawling, NY — a Hudson Valley room that suits a player like him just about perfectly.

About the Show

Cummings came up through bluegrass and banjo before Stevie Ray Vaughan’s music rewired him entirely. He saw Vaughan perform in 1987 while in college and never looked back. His 2003 solo debut From the Heart featured Double Trouble — Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, the legendary rhythm section from Vaughan’s band — and earned him serious industry attention. B.B. King later called him “a great guitarist,” which is not a quote you put in a bio unless you earned it.

His most recent album, Strong (2024), was produced by Grammy-winning producer Tom Hambridge at Ocean Way Recording Studio in Nashville and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart. It’s a record that leans into Cummings’ full range — from swampy burners to slow-burning ballads where his guitar work really opens up. His 2012 album No Regrets also hit #1 on iTunes in the US, Canada, and France. He has received a European Blues Award nomination for Best Guitar Player and a Blues Music Award nomination for his 2017 live album.

Live, Cummings is the kind of player who earns the comparison to his influences rather than just inheriting them. He has shared stages with B.B. King, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, and Susan Tedeschi. A night with Cummings in a 300-person club is the kind of show you will be talking about on the drive home.

Venue & Logistics

Daryl’s House sits on NY-22 in Pawling — a quiet Hudson Valley town roughly 90 minutes north of New York City. The venue is an intimate club with a capacity of 300, which means nobody in the room is very far from the stage. That proximity matters with a guitarist like Cummings. Pawling is a small, walkable town worth arriving early to explore. If you are coming from the Capital Region or points upstate, budget time for the drive south through the valley — and in late November, check the forecast before you leave. The roads through the hills can surprise you.
