There is something fitting about Ann Wilson choosing Bethel Woods for this particular evening. The site of the 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair has always been less a concert venue than a monument — a place where what rock music could mean was tested at its most extreme scale. On May 29, Wilson arrives not with a setlist but with a film and a conversation.
About In My Voice
Directed by Barbara Hall — whose credits include Loretta Lynn: My Story in My Words — In My Voice is an authorized feature-length documentary assembled from Wilson’s personal archive: home movies, photographs, journals, and never-before-seen Heart band footage. The scope runs from childhood through the founding of Heart (before Nancy Wilson joined), the band’s ascent to arena stardom on “Barracuda” and “Crazy On You,” and what Wilson is building now.
“This film is my story in my own words, told the way I’ve always wanted to tell it,” Wilson said. “It’s about finding my voice, keeping it alive, and sharing the journey with the people who’ve been part of it all along.” Hall was direct about the material: “Her story exceeds a scriptwriter’s imagination.”
The context matters. Wilson disclosed a cancer diagnosis in 2024, underwent chemotherapy, and returned to performing in 2025. Heart’s Royal Flush Tour ran through late 2025; the band plans to resume full touring in 2027. This documentary tour — ten cities, with stops at Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (where Wilson was inducted in 2013 as a member of Heart), City Winery in Chicago, and Toronto’s Opera House — is Wilson on her own terms, telling her own story. The Bethel Woods date falls seventh in the sequence; the tour opened May 11 at Seattle’s Neptune Theatre.
Each screening is followed by a live Q&A with Wilson and director Hall.
About the Venue
The event takes place at the Bethel Woods Events Center — the indoor hall on the historic Woodstock grounds, not the main outdoor amphitheater. At approximately 440 seats, the room is the right scale for an evening built around film and conversation. Guests in the Hudson Valley region can also opt into a pre-event dinner in the Museum Special Exhibit, available with a separate ticket purchase.
