There are venues that carry history in the ground itself, and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts may be the most literal example in American music. Built on the original site of the 1969 Woodstock festival in the Catskill Mountains — roughly 90 miles northwest of New York City — it hosts James Taylor and his All-Star Band this June 18. Taylor was part of the singer-songwriter surge that festival crystallized into a cultural moment. Returning to this ground, at this stage of a career spanning five decades, is not incidental.

About James Taylor & His All-Star Band

Taylor’s 2026 tour — 29 shows running from late April through September — revisits a catalog built across five decades with an ensemble he has long relied on. The All-Star Band is not a backup group in the conventional sense: drummer Steve Gadd, guitarist Michael Landau, bassist Jimmy Johnson, and percussionist Luis Conte are players whose collective depth is rarely found behind a single headliner. Vocalists Kate Markowitz, Dorian Holley, and Andrea Zonn complete the lineup. Shows run approximately two hours.

The career behind that band is well-established: a debut in 1968, more than 100 million albums sold, induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2015), Kennedy Center Honors (2016), and the National Medal of Arts (2012). His 2021 album American Standard — a Grammy winner for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album — made him the first artist to place a Billboard Top 10 album in each of the past six decades. That particular distinction says something about durability that no award plaque quite captures.

The Hudson Valley date anchors a tight New York cluster: Bethel Woods on June 18, Jones Beach on June 23, and SPAC in Saratoga Springs on June 29. Bethel Woods opens the run, and the site gives it a frame the other dates simply cannot replicate.
