James Taylor at Bethel Woods | June 18, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · May 6, 2026

There are few pairings in American concert-going that carry as much accumulated weight as James Taylor and an outdoor amphitheater on a summer evening — and fewer still as layered with historical resonance as Taylor performing on the very grounds where the 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair unfolded. On Thursday, June 18, 2026, An Evening with James Taylor & His All-Star Band comes to the Pavilion Stage at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, NY, with general gates at 6:00 PM and showtime at 7:30 PM.

About James Taylor

Taylor has been making records since his 1968 self-titled debut, and the honest assessment — after more than 50 years and over 100 million albums sold — is that he has outlasted nearly every artist of his generation not through reinvention but through consistency, and through a baritone voice that has aged into the material rather than away from it. “Fire and Rain,” “Sweet Baby James,” “Carolina in My Mind”: these songs are not nostalgia pieces on a Taylor setlist. They are the reason the room fills.

The accolades are substantial: multiple Grammy Awards — including the 2021 Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for American Standard, his 19th studio album — inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, Presidential Medal of Freedom (2015), Kennedy Center Honors (2016), National Medal of Arts (2012), and the distinction of being the first artist with a Billboard Top 10 album in each of the past six decades. The All-Star Band format means no opening act; this is catalog work performed by musicians who know these songs well enough to make them feel inevitable.

About Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

Bethel Woods is one of the more deliberately significant concert venues in the country. Situated on more than 1,000 acres in the Catskills, roughly 90 miles from New York City, the Hudson Valley cultural center sits on the actual farmland where the 1969 Woodstock festival took place — and it treats that history seriously, housing the award-winning Museum at Bethel Woods alongside the 16,000-capacity Pavilion Stage. For a singer-songwriter who came of age in precisely that era, the setting is less backdrop than biography. On-site camping and glamping are available for those inclined to linger.

Capital Region readers should note that Taylor also plays Albany Med Health System at SPAC on June 29 — close enough to make a direct comparison of venues, if that’s the sort of thing you do.
