John Fogerty at CMAC | September 5, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · May 7, 2026

The John Fogerty arriving at CMAC on September 5th is a different figure than the one who spent decades playing his own songs under someone else’s copyright. In January 2023, after fifty years of what he described as an unthinkable arrangement, Fogerty reclaimed the publishing rights to his CCR catalog. “I own my own songs again,” he said. “This is something I thought would never be a possibility.” What followed was Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years — released November 2025, co-produced with his son Shane and executive produced by his wife Julie — and now a 13-date co-headlining run with Steve Winwood. The Canandaigua stop is the second.

About John Fogerty

Fogerty built Creedence Clearwater Revival into one of American rock’s defining acts by collapsing genre walls — blues, country, rockabilly, R&B, and swamp boogie — into singles that have since crossed the billion-stream threshold multiple times. He holds Grammy Awards and sits in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame — and remains the only musician the Baseball Hall of Fame has ever honored for a specific song (“Centerfield”). In June 2026, he will receive the Johnny Mercer Award — the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s highest honor — at a gala in New York City. The 2023 catalog reclamation gives this tour an earned gravity that most legacy runs cannot claim.

His sets function as a comprehensive survey of the CCR years: “Proud Mary,” “Fortunate Son,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “Down on the Corner,” “Centerfield” — performed with the family band that shaped the Legacy album itself.

Steve Winwood

Winwood co-headlines all 13 dates. His credentials — the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, and a solo catalog that produced “Higher Love” and “Back In The High Life Again” — require no amplification here. His last major solo tour was 2018; a planned 2020 co-headlining run with Steely Dan was canceled by the pandemic, his U.S. presence since limited to brief 2025 dates and a 2024 stint with the Doobie Brothers. For Finger Lakes audiences, the co-billing is not routine.
