Here is what you need to know about this one: Cohoes Music Hall is one of the most underrated rooms in the Albany / Capital District, and The Machine is one of the most technically accomplished tribute acts in the country. Put those two things together on a Saturday night in June and you have a show worth making plans around.
About The Machine
The Machine have been doing this for over two decades, and they are still the benchmark. New York-based and relentlessly serious about their craft, this quartet has built their reputation on meticulous recreations of Pink Floyd's 16-album catalog — not just the radio staples, but deep cuts, fan requests, and occasionally full album performances. What sets them apart from the tribute act crowd is the production: dramatic lighting, video backdrops, and a collective improvisational approach that draws more from the experimental early Floyd than from a greatest-hits setlist.
They have headlined Bonnaroo, Riverbend, and international festivals including Germany's Rock of Ages. They have performed alongside full symphony orchestras. If you have seen them before, you already know. If you have not, Saturday, June 13 at Cohoes Music Hall is a very good place to start.
About Cohoes Music Hall
Cohoes Music Hall opened in 1874 and has been hosting touring acts since the days of John Philip Sousa and Sarah Bernhardt. The fourth-oldest operational music hall in the United States, it seats approximately 450 people across a main floor and wraparound balcony — and the acoustics are genuinely exceptional. Dense plaster, hardwood, and original brick construction means the sound was built into the room long before anyone installed a speaker. It is the kind of venue where the building itself does some of the work.
Doors are at 7:30 PM. Free street parking is available on Remsen Street, with additional parking off Cayuga Street. If you want to eat first, Smith's Public House, Caskade Kitchen & Bar, and Bye-i Brewing are all within walking distance.
