“Music both fresh as sunrise and yet drenched in tradition” is how Caffe Lena describes an evening with The Gothard Sisters, and coming from a venue that has made acoustic folk music its entire reason for existing, the phrase reads less like promotional copy than honest assessment. Greta, Willow, and Solana Gothard are three siblings from the Pacific Northwest who came up studying classical music and arrived somewhere else entirely: Celtic-influenced American folk, carried by violin, guitar, mandolin, bodhran, djembe, and whistle, and held together by the close sibling harmonies that only come from years of making music in the same room. They bring that sound to Saratoga Springs for Caffe Lena’s Momentum Series on Sunday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m.
About the Show
The Gothard Sisters have been at this for a while — 11 albums, more than 2,000 shows across 48 states and four countries, 70 million global streams, and a catalogue that has earned them “Best New Irish Artist” at the Irish Music Awards and “Album of the Year” at the Celtic Radio Awards. Greta, the group’s primary songwriter, handles guitar and violin; Willow takes violin, fiddle, and mandolin while managing the band’s recording and mixing; Solana leads on vocals while adding violin, bodhran, djembe, and percussion. Their most recent album, Moment in Time, came out in 2025. An earlier record, Midnight Sun, placed No. 6 on the Billboard World Music charts. Their thematic territory — nature, adventure, international folklore, the mountain and coastal landscapes of the American West — gives the Celtic framework room to breathe, and at least one reviewer has called the result “vivid, inspirational and captivating.” Their Boise date on the spring 2026 Celtic Celebration Tour sold out in advance, which tells you something about the kind of following they have built show by show.

Caffe Lena is a folk club and listening room at 47 Phila Street in Saratoga Springs — a 110-seat room in the capital region built around the proposition that acoustic music deserves a space where nothing gets lost. It is exactly the kind of room where close harmonies and fiddle-driven arrangements find their best selves, and exactly where the Gothard Sisters should be heard.
