The Ultimate Doors has earned a specific and defensible reputation. Audiences describe the experience as “uncannily true to the original” — as close as you can get to a live Doors concert, given that Jim Morrison is no longer alive to perform one. That standing rests not on nostalgia for its own sake but on something more demanding: a methodical, instrument-by-instrument reconstruction of The Doors’ 1960s performances that the band describes as running “from Jim Morrison’s leather outfits all the way down to the color of the microphone cable.” Penn’s Peak is bringing them back for the second consecutive December.
About the Show
The Ultimate Doors assigns each of its four members to a specific original Door. Darrian Kenney takes the Jim Morrison role; Todd Huffman plays Robby Krieger’s guitar parts on a period-correct Gibson SG; Branden Eifrid handles Ray Manzarek’s double-duty keyboard setup, running a Gibson G-101 organ and a Fender Rhodes piano bass simultaneously; and Jordyn Huffman plays percussion on a Mod Orange Ludwig Downbeat kit in Densmore’s style. The commitment extends beyond sound to clothing, amplifiers, and stage presence, with every piece of equipment on stage matching what The Doors used in the 1960s. Supporters describe the shows as less of a cover act than a time machine: an immersive recreation of what The Doors’ live performances felt and sounded like in their late-1960s prime.
The set draws from across the catalog: “Riders on the Storm,” “People Are Strange,” “Roadhouse Blues,” “Hello, I Love You,” “LA Woman,” “Love Her Madly,” and “(Come On Baby) Light My Fire” among the expected entries. Penn’s Peak first booked The Ultimate Doors in December 2025 and returns the engagement for 2026. The band is currently running 13 tour dates across North America, with this stop as their December anchor.
Venue & Logistics
Penn’s Peak sits atop a mountain in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania — a 1,800-capacity room with high ceilings, a spacious dance floor, and a full-service restaurant and bar onsite. The venue has made a habit of booking tribute acts that take their craft seriously; Tusk (a Fleetwood Mac tribute) is on the calendar for August 2026 and Get The Led Out for September. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19. Penn’s Peak draws audiences from across the Hudson Valley and into the surrounding region.
