If you need a reason to make the drive to South Burlington this fall, here it is. Quinn Sullivan hits Higher Ground‘s Showcase Lounge on Thursday, September 3 — doors at 7:30 PM, show at 8:00. All ages.
About Quinn Sullivan
Sullivan is 26 years old and has been doing this since he was three. He grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts in a house where his dad drummed in a Grateful Dead cover band for over 30 years. By age eight, a chance encounter with Buddy Guy turned into a decade-long touring and recording partnership. That kind of origin story could produce a prodigy coasting on the legend. Sullivan went a different direction.
His fifth album, Salvation, released June 2024 on Provogue/Mascot Label Group, carries real weight. He recorded it in Minneapolis while grieving his mother’s unexpected passing — working with producer John Fields and co-writer Kevin Bowe — and the result is a blues-rock record that actually earns its emotional scope. Lead single “Salvation (Make Me Wanna Pray)” leans into B3 organ and wah-wah, landing somewhere between classic soul and modern blues-rock. It is his most personal work to date, and it shows live.
On the road, Sullivan has shared stages with B.B. King — who let him play the famous “Lucille” — Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton. He has performed at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl. He tours with Trouble No More, the Allman Brothers-sanctioned ensemble carrying that live legacy forward. For a Thursday night in Vermont, that is a serious bill.
