Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival closes its 12-city 2026 tour at SPAC on Sunday, August 30 — and for a festival now well into its second decade, that closing-night distinction carries real weight. Nelson himself has trimmed his road schedule in recent years, making any appearance at this point a harder-earned occasion than it once was.
About the Festival
The 2026 edition brings a lineup that holds up to scrutiny: The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Stephen Wilson Jr., Robert Randolph, and Don Was & The Pan-Detroit Ensemble alongside Willie Nelson & Family. Rolling Stone called last year’s tour “undoubtedly the most exciting and eclectic multi-artist festival of the 2025 summer amphitheater season” — high praise from a publication not given to hyperbole about country-adjacent touring acts.
Sheryl Crow, a nine-time Grammy Award winner and 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, has sold 35 million copies of her first nine studio albums worldwide and remains a compelling stage presence by any measure. The Avett Brothers have built one of the more durable followings in contemporary roots music — expect that contingent to arrive early and stay loud. Robert Randolph’s pedal steel work is one of the more singular live experiences available at an outdoor summer amphitheater. And Don Was, Grammy-winning producer and current president of Blue Note Records, fronts The Pan-Detroit Ensemble in a set celebrating Detroit’s musical heritage — an unusual booking for this lineup, and potentially the most interesting 45 minutes of the afternoon.
About the Venue
Set within the 2,400-acre Saratoga Spa State Park, SPAC holds 25,000 — roughly 5,200 sheltered seats with the remainder open lawn. The lawn at SPAC on a clear August afternoon is about as good as outdoor amphitheater conditions get. Outside chairs are not permitted; lawn chair rentals are available on-site. The show is presented by Live Nation. SPAC is located at 108 Avenue of the Pines, Saratoga Springs, NY, and anchors the Albany / Capital District summer amphitheater calendar.
