Tracy Lawrence at Palace Theatre | September 25, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · May 6, 2026

Tracy Lawrence’s relationship with the northeast has always been more occasional than habitual — his crowd runs deepest where his music was born, in the South and the Midwest, and his touring calendar has tended to reflect that geography accordingly. Which makes the September 25 booking at Albany’s Palace Theatre worth remarking on: a 2,844-seat house for one of country’s most durably successful voices from the 1990s, on a tour that has already accumulated more than 60 dates since its March launch. The No Alibis Tour arrives at 19 Clinton Avenue on a Friday night, showtime 7:30 PM, and Lawrence has been characteristically direct about what’s driving its expansion: “The energy has been unreal.”

About Tracy Lawrence

Born in Atlanta, Texas in 1968 and raised in Foreman, Arkansas — small-town roots that surface in his songwriting with the kind of specificity that press-release biographies can never manufacture. He arrived in Nashville around 1990, played the Bluebird Café in January 1991, and had an Atlantic Records contract before the year was out. His debut album, Sticks and Stones, drove its title track to number one in 1992, and what followed was a sustained decade of chart dominance that is easy to summarize but harder to overstate: eight number-one singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, double-platinum certifications on Alibis (1993) and Time Marches On, and a catalog — “Texas Tornado,” “Find Out Who Your Friends Are,” “Paint Me a Birmingham” — that belongs to the same era as Brooks & Dunn and George Strait, artists who defined what country radio sounded like for an entire generation. Billboard named Lawrence Best New Male Artist in 1992; the Academy of Country Music named him Top New Male Vocalist the year after. He was not built for novelty. He was built for longevity.

The No Alibis Tour reflects that. Launched in March 2026 and expanded with a 33-date second leg after strong early returns, the run now extends through October. Lawrence has headlined the Ryman Auditorium three consecutive years — including a May 3 stop this year. That particular venue does not book its stage carelessly, and neither does the Palace.

About the Venue

The Palace Theatre at 19 Clinton Avenue has long been the defining indoor room for the Albany / Capital District region — the venue where the billing matters and the sightlines hold. At 2,844 seats, it is large enough to draw tour-caliber acts and present-tense enough that an artist like Lawrence, whose catalog rewards an attentive room, is not wasted in the booking. General on-sale began April 24, 2026. More information is available at palacealbany.org.
