Pete Davidson at The Palace Theatre Albany | September 24, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · June 10, 2026

Pete Davidson’s relationship with the Palace Theatre has taken some turns. He played the room in 2019 alongside John Mulaney. He came back for back-to-back shows at The Egg in 2023. He had a 2024 Palace return on the calendar and cancelled it — openly, honestly — to check into a wellness facility for mental health treatment. Now he’s back, September 24, and the stand-up run he’s been working is called, with a certain wry aptness, the Wellness Check tour.

About Pete Davidson

Davidson joined Saturday Night Live in 2014 at age 20 — one of the youngest cast members in the show’s history — and served eight seasons before departing in 2022. What he built in that stretch was something more durable than a sketch-show résumé: a persona grounded in radical transparency. The loss of his firefighter father on September 11, 2001, when Pete was seven, became the gravitational center of his comedy. His openness about PTSD and borderline personality disorder turned what might have been tabloid fodder into material with genuine weight. The New York Times put it plainly: “Mr. Davidson projects a slow-tempo innocence, it’s married to a profound, sad wisdom.” His 2024 Netflix special Turbo Fonzarelli showed he’s still growing into it.

The Palace Theatre, Albany

The Palace Theatre, built in 1931 and designed by John Eberson in the atmospheric style he perfected during cinema’s golden age, remains the most architecturally distinctive room in the Capital Region. The fiber-optic ceiling, the ornate plasterwork, the 2,844-seat house with a balcony that wraps close enough to the stage that even the upper rows stay connected to the performance — it’s a room that flatters the performer and rewards the audience in equal measure. Davidson has played it before and will know what to do with the quiet moments. The venue sits on Clinton Avenue in downtown Albany; street parking and paid garages are available nearby. One note of consequence: this is a Yondr phone-free show. All devices are secured in pouches at entry. Anyone seen using a device will be escorted out.
