Midwinter writes metalcore built around loss — breakdowns that don’t just hit but linger, ambient layers pulling under punishing thall-infused riffs until there’s no clean landing. Their sophomore album A Love I Hope Will Haunt Me Forever, released April 16 on Papercut Recordings, is exactly as heavy as the grief it documents. The Haunt Me Forever Tour, named for the record, brings the Cleveland, Ohio five-piece to Empire Underground on Friday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m.
About the Show
The band described the record as coming “from a really personal place”: about, in their words, “losing someone you love and trying to make sense of everything that comes after; the doubt, the anger, the quiet moments where it all sinks in.” Musically, they pushed into “heavier, stranger territory, somewhere between progressive metalcore and thall with a specific emphasis on sound design,” incorporating glitchy textures and dissonant melodies alongside brutal breakdowns. Two music videos launched with the album: “Eager Tides” and “Hourglass.” The sound is constructed to mirror the emotional weight of the lyrics, and it does.
Midwinter signed to Papercut Recordings in February 2026; the label is run by members of Brand Of Sacrifice and Fit For A King. The five-piece is vocalist Billy Toth, guitarist and sound designer Zac D’Urso, drummer Nate Rosenhaus, bassist Max Underwood, and vocalist/guitarist Kody Archer. D’Urso’s dual role as guitarist and sound designer keeps the experimental production inside the band’s architecture rather than bolted on top of it.

The Haunt Me Forever Tour runs through November and into December, with North American dates before the band heads to the UK in December. Albany on November 6 is the second stop on the North American leg.

Empire Underground, at 93 N Pearl St in downtown Albany, is a club-size room in the capital region. For a band whose music depends on dynamic range, a smaller room keeps all of that intact: the ambient quiet before the riff drops, the texture before the breakdown. A large hall would eat the quiet parts. Show time is 7:00 p.m.
