Trey Anastasio’s last notable appearance in the region was at SPAC in June 2021 — acoustic sets with pianist Jeff Tanski and string musicians, calibrated for a venue finding its footing in the early weeks of post-pandemic reopening. The November 12 stop at Albany’s Palace Theatre is a different kind of night: eight musicians, a band with a lineage stretching back to 1998, and material designed to fill a room rather than quiet it.
About the Show
The Trey Anastasio Band is heading into a six-date Northeast run this fall, opening November 10 at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine and running through Albany, Jersey City, Washington D.C., and Port Chester before closing with a pair of Divided Sky Foundation benefit concerts in Worcester, Massachusetts on November 20–21. The Albany date is the second night of the tour, with no support act announced for this stop.
The current TAB lineup is an eight-piece ensemble: Anastasio on vocals and guitar, Russ Lawton on drums, Ray Paczkowski on keyboards, Cyro Baptista on percussion, Dezron Douglas on bass, and a three-piece horn section of Natalie Cressman (trombone/vocals), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet/vocals), and Kenneth Whalum on saxophone. Lawton is the only other member from the band’s original 1998 lineup.
Beyond Phish — the band Anastasio co-founded in 1983 — his solo career has ranged from orchestral commissions (the New York Times called his Carnegie Hall performance with the New York Philharmonic “that rarest of rarities, a classical-rock hybrid”) to a Tony-nominated Broadway score for Hands on a Hardbody in 2013, to five stadium appearances with surviving Grateful Dead members at the band’s 50th-anniversary concerts in 2015. His 14th solo album, Ghosts of the Forest, appeared in April 2019. Earlier in 2026, he released a live acoustic collection drawn from his sold-out 2025 Spring Acoustic Tour.

The Palace Theatre at 19 Clinton Avenue is Albany’s premier performing arts theater — a room where an eight-piece band with a full horn section has somewhere to put the sound. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a 7:00 p.m. show. The Palace is a reliable anchor of the Capital Region concert calendar.
