Charley Crockett at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards | June 18, 2026
There is a specific quality of June evenings in the hills north of Syracuse — the light coming in sideways through the apple trees, the air still warm enough to stay outside without thinking about it, and if you are standing in front of the stage at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards with a hard cider poured from the orchard’s own harvest, the idea of a Texas troubadour singing about drifters and judgment and the long road home suddenly makes complete sense. Charley Crockett brings his Age of the Ram Tour to Beak & Skiff on Thursday, June 18, with Wild Horses opening and doors at 6:00 PM.
About Charley Crockett
Crockett’s backstory is part of the reason his music carries the weight it does. He left Texas at 17 and spent years as a street musician — New Orleans, Memphis, New York City — sleeping where he could, absorbing every strain of American music that crossed his path. Blues. Soul. Honky tonk. Old country. He calls what came out of it Gulf & Western, and the name holds up. This is not the Nashville version of country. It is something older and less polished and more honest than that.
He has been recording since 2015 — 17 studio albums and counting, a body of work that earned him sold-out nights at the Ryman Auditorium and a New Yorker profile, though anyone who’d been paying attention could have told you which direction this was heading long before the accolades arrived. The June show supports Age of the Ram, the April 2026 conclusion of the Sagebrush Trilogy — a three-album arc running through Lonesome Drifter and the Grammy-nominated Dollar a Day. Produced by Shooter Jennings, the record is a Western concept album following a fictional drifter named Billy McLane, though Crockett’s own biography seeps through the seams. The standout “Me & Shooter” pulls so clearly from 1970s Willie Nelson collaborations it sounds like something recovered from a vault rather than composed for a new record. Country Central called it “a deep, much-needed breath of fresh air against the sterile perfection of today’s radio-ready country.”
About Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards
Beak & Skiff runs one of the better summer concert series in Central New York — a working orchard in LaFayette that has drawn Wilco, Dark Star Orchestra, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise, among others. The outdoor lawn offers clear sightlines to the stage, and the on-site 1911 Tasting Room pours hard cider, spirits, and wine made from the orchard’s own fruit. Show time is 7:00 PM.
