Neither DaBaby nor G Herbo grew up in Albany (one came up in Charlotte, the other in Chicago), but on October 3 they’re co-presenting what they’ve titled Albany’s Official Annual Homecoming Weekend at MVP Arena, which says something about how hip-hop artists build loyalty in cities they didn’t come from. The date falls squarely during UAlbany’s homecoming weekend, October 2 through 4; that framing is the point.
About the Show
The event pairs DaBaby and G Herbo as co-headliners at MVP Arena, a few weeks after they shared the Baychella lineup at Oakland Arena on September 12. For DaBaby — born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk in Charlotte and signed to Interscope Records in 2019 — this is his second MVP Arena appearance of the year. He played the Clover Fest bill in March, headlined that night by Meek Mill. October is a different arrangement: he and G Herbo are co-presenting something positioned as a cultural event rather than a tour stop.
DaBaby arrives behind BE MORE GRATEFUL, the 23-track album released January 30, 2026. The project builds on the directness that made Baby on Baby a top-seven Billboard 200 debut in 2019, earned his follow-up Kirk a number-one debut on that same chart, and brought multiple Grammy nominations, including a Record of the Year nod for “ROCKSTAR.” BE MORE GRATEFUL pushes further into personal territory. One review described it as offering “glimpses into DaBaby’s mindset as he navigates fame, family, and survival” while maintaining the energy that carries his live show. Tracks like “Pop Dat Thang,” “Paper Low,” and “Boomerang” (featuring Coi Leray) give a sense of the range.
G Herbo, the Chicago rapper who placed PTSD, 25, and Survivor’s Remorse in the Billboard 200 top ten between 2020 and 2022, arrives promoting Lil Herb, the November 2025 album on which he returned to his original moniker and to the raw storytelling of his earlier work. No support acts beyond the two headliners have been confirmed.
