Dead Man’s Waltz traces its concept back to 1973, when The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Band shared a stage at the Summer Jam at Watkins Glen. The ensemble — formerly known as Steal Your Peach — has spent years honoring that crossover tradition, drawing simultaneously from all three catalogs in a single show. On Friday, October 2, they bring that combined catalog to Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs, with the Rev Tor Band opening.
About the Show
Dead Man’s Waltz is a six-piece Northeast festival collective built around dual drummers, mirroring the classic lineups of both The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers Band. The October 2 lineup features Rev Tor Krautter and Wesley Childers on guitar and vocals, Parker McQueeney on keys and vocals, Brian O’Connell on bass and vocals, and Tom Major and Jeff Prescott sharing drum duties. The band approaches all three catalogs with genuine respect for the originals while staying willing to push into unfamiliar territory. They put together a different set list at every show, pulling from well-known songs and deeper cuts alike, and their improvisation-heavy approach means no two performances land quite the same way. Members of the collective have shared stages with musicians from The Grateful Dead, Dead and Co., The Allman Brothers Band, Phish, and MOE.
The band has been working the Northeast circuit throughout 2026, with stops at the Shea Theater in May, the Dead of Summer Music Festival in Manchester, Vermont in July, and Small Batch Cellars in Connecticut in late September. The Putnam Place date closes out that regional stretch.
Opening the night is the Rev Tor Band. Founded in western Massachusetts in 1996 by frontman Tor Krautter, the group has built a solid presence on the east coast club and festival circuit, touring from Maine to Key West. They have released eight albums on Smellydog Records, toured alongside Grateful Dead keyboardist Tom Constanten, and have collaborated with artists including The Band, Little Feat, and Arlo Guthrie. Their sound runs toward funky, bass-forward grooves with bouncy guitar lines and foot-stomping percussion.

Putnam Place is at 63A Putnam Street in Saratoga Springs, a club room in the Capital Region with a calendar built around touring acts from the jam and Americana scenes. Doors are at 7:00 p.m., with the show starting at 8:00 p.m. This is an 18-and-older show.
