Dominion’s track record at The Song & Dance is worth noting upfront: the Halloween 2026 edition sold out, and an early November installment drew touring acts from Los Angeles and San Francisco to the downtown Syracuse room. The Nov. 21 edition, subtitled Electric Body Mayhem, sharpens the program. Where prior Dominion nights have ranged across the full goth and New Wave spectrum, this one is built for EBM, Industrial, New Beat, Acid, Techno and Nu Goth specifically—the harder, dance-floor-oriented end of the dark-music tradition, made for the crowd that wants to move in the fog.
About the Show
Presented by After Dark Presents (a regional promoter with bookings across Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse), Dominion: Electric Body Mayhem features DJ sets from MelpireBat, Body Electric, and Liuliuliminal. MelpireBat is a regular on the upstate dark-music circuit, specializing in Darkwave, EBM, 80s, and Dark Disco, with a monthly residency at DISORDER, the goth night at Revolution Gallery Lounge in Buffalo. Liuliuliminal has played alongside PIG (Raymond Watts of KMFDM) at a prior Dominion/After Dark date at this same venue, a booking that places the DJ within the national industrial scene rather than merely the regional one. Body Electric has been part of the Dominion lineup across multiple editions, spinning New Wave, goth, industrial, and post-punk.
After Dark Presents frames this edition explicitly as a night for “the dance floor participants who exist within thick fog and heavy strobe lights.” It is a narrower brief than previous Dominion installments, which mixed in broader post-punk and 80s material alongside the harder electronic programming.
The genre is worth a brief orientation. EBM (Electronic Body Music) emerged from 1980s Germany and Belgium, described by WKNC radio as “the constructed child of industrial and dance music”: heavy basslines, repetitive drum machines, distorted vocals, and experimental synths. The form massively influenced Ministry and Nine Inch Nails and spawned subgenres including aggrotech and futurepop. This edition commits to that dance-floor lineage.
Venue & Logistics
The 200-capacity Song & Dance, on East Jefferson Street in downtown central New York, will be specifically reconfigured for this event: minimal lighting, a smaller stage, and a scaled-back layout designed to replicate the aesthetic of a 1990s goth/techno warehouse rave. This is an 18-and-over event. Doors open at 9:00 p.m.
