Jimkata at Buffalo Iron Works | October 23, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · August 8, 2026

Jimkata went quiet for four years before resurfacing in 2020 with an electric single and a lineup that hadn’t come apart. That kind of hiatus usually ends a band’s momentum, if not the band itself; for the Ithaca quartet, it seems to have served as something closer to a reset. Six years later, they’re carrying a 2024 album, a January 2026 single, a national booking agency, and a touring calendar dense enough to take them from upstate summer festivals through Pennsylvania in September and back to western New York in October. Buffalo Iron Works is the final date of their documented 2026 run.

About the Show

Jimkata — Evan Friedell, Aaron Gorsch, Packy Lunn, and Cooper Casterline on bass — plays Buffalo Iron Works on Friday, October 23, at 8 p.m. The show lands at the end of a fall stretch that has already included the Adirondack Independence Music Festival in Lake George, Middle Ages in Syracuse, and a brewery anniversary block party in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Their most recent album, Running in Place, came out September 4, 2024, an eight-track collection blending studio recordings with live material, genre-tagged as electro rock, alternative, jam, and synth rock, and self-described by the band as “Full Spectrum Jimkata.” Their most recent release, the single “Coyotes,” arrived in January 2026. The press runs broad: Popdose cited “bubbly sweetness,” American Songwriter praised “organic chemistry,” and Relix found evidence that the band’s approach “proves that rock-based music still has a place in the world of four-on-the-floor beats.” Those descriptors don’t sit easily alongside each other, which is part of the point. The band draws from Motown, singer-songwriter tradition, and country music underneath the electro-rock machinery.

The three founding members have been friends since middle school, and the band has built to more than 853 documented past events across clubs, theaters, and festivals, including Peach Music Festival and Gathering of the Vibes.

Venue & Logistics

Buffalo Iron Works is on Illinois Street in Buffalo, a western New York club suited to what Jimkata does in a live room: close quarters, loud stages, and a crowd that’s part of the mix. Jimkata played this same room on February 28, 2026; the October booking makes this their second visit to Buffalo Iron Works inside a single calendar year. Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. The event is 18 and older.
