Death at the Silos sold out all twelve of its 2025 performances at Buffalo RiverWorks — every one. For 2026, Buffalo History Tours brought the immersive murder mystery dinner back for five nights. The September 25 show is the last date on the calendar: your final shot at 1896 Buffalo, a murdered reform-minded mayor, and Nikola Tesla in the interrogation chair.
About the Show
The setup: it is 1896, and Tesla is captivating Buffalo with his groundbreaking inventions when a reform-minded mayor turns up dead. Suspicion spreads to a colorful cast of suspects — the electrifying inventor himself, a corrupt Irish cop, a tipsy boat captain, and a brothel madame. Guests move through the evening as investigators, gathering clues, interrogating suspects, and ultimately naming the killer. Get it right and you compete for prizes.
One set piece that has become a signature of the evening: a demonstration of a “real life Tesla electric ray gun” staged inside the silos as guests move through the historic spaces gathering evidence. It is the kind of detail that puts you inside a slightly absurd 1890s crime novel, which is the whole idea.
The experience runs approximately three and a half hours, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Dinner comes first, served at the Silo Events Center inside the main building: a buffet of honey basil chicken, beer braised pot roast, six cheese pasta, salad, smashed red potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and rolls, with coffee and hot tea included. Then the investigation moves into the silos, where light walking and standing are part of the deal. Alcoholic and fountain beverages cost extra.
The event is listed as both family friendly and geared toward adults. The whodunit structure is approachable; the suspects are colorful enough to hold any room.
Venue & Logistics
The Silo Events Center at Buffalo RiverWorks, 359 Ganson Street, sits on the Buffalo River, part of the same western New York industrial waterfront that the 1896 storyline inhabits. Dinner unfolds in the main building; the investigation moves into the restored grain silos. Moving through those spaces as an investigator rather than watching from a seat is the whole architecture of the event — the venue is the stage.
