Here is what makes this one worth circling on the calendar: it is not a movie screening. The Magical Music of Harry Potter – Live in Concert is a full live orchestra and choir performing the Oscar-nominated scores from the Harry Potter films — with illusions woven through the show, a trivia quiz, audience participation, and a special guest star from the actual films who sticks around afterward for a complimentary photo with every ticket holder. Wednesday, February 24, 2027. Curtain at 4:00 PM. The Stanley Theatre in Utica.
That 4 PM start time is worth noting before you plan your day — if you are bringing kids, you are home for dinner, and the drive stays manageable from just about anywhere in Central New York. The Stanley, at 2,963 seats on Genesee Street, is the kind of room where a live orchestra actually sounds like one.
About the Show
Presented by Star Entertainment USA and performed by The Magical Film Orchestra & Choir, the concert draws from four composers: five-time Oscar winner John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Oscar winner Alexandre Desplat. The program includes Hedwig’s Theme, Double Trouble, Dumbledore’s Farewell, Voldemort’s Entry Theme, and Witches, Wands and Wizards — pieces that land differently when they are coming off a live stage, with a full choir behind them, rather than a home theater speaker system.
A special guest star from the Harry Potter films presents the evening and offers a complimentary photo opportunity to all ticket purchasers. The production also uses strobes, haze, and lighting effects — worth knowing in advance if anyone in your group is sensitive to them.
This is an independent production. Star Entertainment USA is not affiliated with the Harry Potter films, studios, or production companies.
