Hayley Jane Band bills itself as “Rock N Roll / Funk / Soul / Emotionally Explosive,” and while the last part sounds like marketing language, it is simply accurate. Anyone who has seen the Burlington, Vermont-rooted outfit in full flight knows the theatrics are not decoration — they are the point. Relix Magazine reached for Mick Jagger and Janis Joplin when they needed a comparison; the Brattleboro Reformer pointed to musical theater training and a powerful vocal range. Both are right, which tells you something about how much ground Hayley Jane actually covers.

On Thursday, December 10, Hayley Jane Band and Organ Fairchild bring the Hayley Jane Band x Organ Fairchild Tour to Funk ’n Waffles in Syracuse, the second stop on a four-night run through upstate New York that opens in Rochester and closes in Saranac Lake. Hayley Jane navigates what her own site calls “the spectrum between siren and storyteller,” drawing from ’60s and ’70s rock and pop, musical theater, folk, blues, soul, funk, and bluegrass. Passim describes her shows as music that “reawakens her audiences to the wild parts of themselves.” Her current band features Burlington-area musicians Sam Lyons on drums, Tom Gladstone on bass, Matt Weinstein on keys, and Jackson Bawer on guitar.
Organ Fairchild, the Buffalo instrumental trio of Joe Bellanti (organ/keyboards), Corey Kertzie (drums/percussion), and Dave Ruch (guitar), comes at it from the opposite direction: no vocalist, no bassist, all groove. The three met in 1983 as members of a Buffalo Grateful Dead cover band and did not write original music together until 2020, when they launched Organ Fairchild. Since then, they have hit No. 1 on the Relix/Jambands.com National Radio Charts twice, recorded with Jorma Kaukonen, and taken the show to 29 states. Their fourth studio album, BOOM!, arrived in February 2026. Jeff Miers of Gusto put it plainly: “a trio that demands to be called a supergroup. Fiery, passionate and deeply musical.”

Funk ’n Waffles sits at 307 S. Clinton St. in Central New York, and it is one of the few rooms in Syracuse where the name tells you exactly what you are walking into. The venue keeps the sound close. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the show starts at 8:00 p.m. This is an 18-and-older event.
