Empire Live packs 1,000 people onto two floors at 93 N. Pearl Street in downtown Albany — a room that knows what to do with a hard rock crowd. Mammoth brings The End Tour there on Thursday, August 6, doors at 7:00 PM. If you have been tracking Wolfgang Van Halen’s band since the debut, this one is worth the trip.
About Mammoth
Wolfgang Van Halen started touring at 16 as the bassist for Van Halen. By 2021 he had built Mammoth from nothing — writing every song, singing every part, playing every instrument on the records himself, usually starting from the drums up. That rigor paid off fast. The debut album hit No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and topped three Billboard charts. The lead single “Distance,” written about his father Eddie Van Halen, went to No. 1 at Rock Radio and earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rock Song.
Mammoth II followed in 2023, debuting in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart. Now comes The End — third album in four years, produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, 10 tracks, 39 minutes. Two singles have already gone No. 1 at Active Rock radio: the title track and “The Spell.” Loudersound called it a “thundering third album” that finds Wolfgang coming of age as a writer.
On stage he’s backed by a full band — guitarists Jon Jourdan and Frank Sidoris, bassist Ronnie Ficarro, and drummer Garrett Whitlock. This is a proper live show.
