Nelly’s debut album Country Grammar arrived in 2000, hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and eventually sold more than 10 million copies in the United States — Diamond certification that places the record alongside Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and Bruce Springsteen on a list very few hip-hop releases ever reach. He is marking 25 years of it with the “Where The Party At Tour,” which stops at Tag’s Summer Stage in Big Flats on Friday, September 11.
About the Show
The “Where The Party At Tour” is Nelly’s first headline run since he spent 2023 and 2024 as part of Janet Jackson’s Together Again Tour. It comes with a proper anniversary hook: a deluxe edition of Country Grammar on translucent blue vinyl arrived in July 2025, and the 54-date international tour has already moved through New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Europe before swinging through the United States. On other dates the bill has included Ja Rule, Eve, Chingy, Jermaine Dupri, and Fabolous; no support act has been announced for the Big Flats stop.
Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., born in Austin and raised in St. Louis, co-founded the hip-hop group St. Lunatics as a teenager before going solo with Country Grammar. By 2002, Nellyville had produced “Hot in Herre” and “Dilemma” (featuring Kelly Rowland), along with the top-five single “Air Force Ones,” featuring Murphy Lee and the St. Lunatics. Three Grammy Awards followed, including Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. In 2004, he dropped two albums at once, Sweat and Suit, and the chart-topping “Grillz” followed in 2005. The catalog behind the “Where The Party At Tour” does not need a preamble.
