About Shannon McNally
McNally is a Grammy-nominated Americana artist out of Long Island with a 20+ year career that does not fit neatly into any single category — which is exactly the point. Her catalog moves through country, soul, folk, and blues with the ease of someone who has absorbed all of it and stopped worrying about the labels. Critics describe her vocals as “bruised and smoky,” and they are not wrong, but what that phrase misses is the control — the way she shifts between swagger and vulnerability inside a single song.
She came up on the late-1990s jam band circuit, opened for Stevie Nicks and Ryan Adams, spent a decade on Capitol Records, and eventually took the independent route — founding her own Queen Maeve Records imprint. Her most recent release, Live At Dee’s (2023), is a career-retrospective live album recorded over four nights at Dee’s Country Lounge in Madison, TN: eighteen songs, a revolving band of Nashville musicians, and the kind of ease that only comes from playing your own material for twenty-plus years. It is the rare live record that actually captures what this artist does in a room.

Higher Ground has been the anchor of Vermont’s live music scene since 1998. Located at 1214 Williston Road in South Burlington, the club runs two rooms — the larger Ballroom and the intimate Showcase Lounge, where this show is booked.
