The Clayton Opera House sits right on the St. Lawrence River, and in August that’s reason enough to make the drive north. Add Sister Hazel to the marquee and you’ve got a full evening. The show is Thursday, August 6 — with a 7:30 PM start.
About Sister Hazel
Sister Hazel is a five-member rock band from Gainesville, Florida, and they’ve been at this for more than 30 years. The band is named for Sister Hazel Williams, a local nun whose work with the homeless left a mark on vocalist Ken Block early in his life.
Their breakthrough came in 1997 with “All for You,” which topped the adult alternative charts all summer and sent their album Somewhere More Familiar to platinum status. The sound draws from folk, jangle pop, post-grunge, and Southern rock — earworm melodies layered over tight harmonies that most bands can’t replicate.
Performing Songwriter Magazine recognized them as one of the top 100 most influential independent performers of the last 15 years, and their live show has a reputation to match: tight, fan-focused, and built around genuine connection with the room. Fans consistently describe their shows as the kind you leave feeling better than when you walked in. Expect roughly 90 minutes to two hours of music.
They’ve also crossed into country territory — Grand Ole Opry debut in 2018, multiple Billboard country chart placements — and earlier this year Ken Block and guitarist Drew Copeland released Ken & Drew’s Lost Cassette Covers, a collection of ten cover recordings from 1993, just before Sister Hazel became Sister Hazel.
At Clayton Opera House
The Clayton Opera House is a 400-seat historic theater in the heart of Clayton, right in the Thousand Islands. Sister Hazel is a returning act here — part of a 2026 season that runs through November. If you’re driving up from Watertown or points south, give yourself a little extra time to walk the waterfront before the show. The box office opens an hour before showtime.
