Train rolls into Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, July 22 with a tour name that doubles as a thesis statement: Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in the Atmosphere. The 36-city summer run is built around the quarter-century mark of the band’s signature hit, and the SPAC stop is the kind of pairing — pop-rock headliner, expansive lawn, lingering July light — that has come to define the amphitheater’s summer programming.
Special guests Barenaked Ladies and Matt Nathanson are along for the night, which gives this show a co-headliner-adjacent shape rather than a bolted-on opener slot. Showtime is 6:45 PM, presented by Live Nation at Albany Med Health System at SPAC.
About Train
Train formed in San Francisco in 1993 and has spent the last quarter-century as one of mainstream pop rock’s more durable hitmakers. Frontman Pat Monahan remains the band’s anchor and primary voice; the current touring lineup pairs him with Taylor Locke on guitar and vocals, Hector Maldonado on bass and vocals, Jerry Becker on keyboards and guitar, and Matt Musty on drums.
“Drops of Jupiter” is the song that built the franchise, and it is the song this tour is built around. The catalog has accumulated enough radio cycles since that an anniversary set has plenty to choose from. Train at this point is what it is: a slick, melodic, crowd-tested live act with a songbook the audience can sing back without prompting.

SPAC remains the Capital Region‘s defining outdoor amphitheater — a 25,000-capacity venue split between 5,200 sheltered seats under the shed and 20,000 lawn spaces beyond it.
