Annie in the Water at Lark Hall | November 14, 2026

By Meg Andersen · August 20, 2026

Annie in the Water’s May EP Garden drew this from critic Andy Scullin: “Each song has all the structure, melody, and confidence of a national or internationally touring band, and this one should help propel Annie in the Water to those heights.” On Saturday, November 14, the Albany five-piece returns to Lark Hall with special guests All Night Boogie Band.

About the Show

Annie in the Water plays what they call Americana indie rock; their Bandcamp page fills in the details: rock, funk, reggae, hip hop, soul, improv, “guitars and synthesizers overtop ground-shaking rhythm.” The five members (Brad Hester, Michael Lashomb, Christopher Meier, Josh West, and Matt Richards) have built their live reputation on sets that press coverage compares to paddling a river — alternating between calm passages and hard-driving stretches, with “infectious grooves and feel-good rhythms” that pull a room into motion.

One track on Garden worth catching: “Path to Totality,” which the band first performed live at Whiteface Mountain during the 2024 solar eclipse, drawing on what they described as “the feeling of cosmic alignment during the eclipse itself.” It landed on Obscure Sound’s Emerging Singles playlist. The ticket page notes this is a return to Lark Hall, and that familiarity tends to show in how a band like this works a room they already know.

Opening the night is All Night Boogie Band, a quintet from Vermont’s Green Mountains who won “Best Blues Group” at the 2025 Seven Daysies Awards and placed as semifinalists at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Their third LP, Shut Your Eyes and See, came out July 3, 2026. Press coverage describes their live set as delivering “the power of a roadhouse blues band, the swing of a horn-fueled soul revue, and the urgency of rock and roll.” They occasionally expand to an octet with horns — worth arriving at doors if that’s the version you want to catch.
