Jerry’s Middle Finger has already played Lark Hall Albany, and they liked the room well enough to release a live album from that stage. The California-based Jerry Garcia Band tribute returns on Friday, October 16 as stop three of a ten-show East Coast run, with a set that draws from Garcia’s catalog of blues, reggae, Motown, gospel, and psychedelic rock.
About the Show
Formed in 2015 in Los Angeles, JMF is a six-piece anchored by lead guitarist and vocalist Garrett Deloian, with Jon Gold on keys and organ, Son Vo on bass, Rodney Newman on drums, and vocalists Halina Janusz and Lisa Malsberger, known together as The Ladyfingers. The catalog spans Garcia’s JGB years from the early ’70s through 1995, a stretch that drew from blues, reggae, Motown, gospel, and psychedelic rock in proportions that shifted show to show. JMF builds their sets the same way, with nightly setlists that pull rarities and deep cuts alongside the crowd favorites, studying the original arrangements while leaving room for reinterpretation. As Newman has put it: “This isn’t just a cover band — it’s a band that genuinely honors the music Jerry made and the community he built.”
The Albany date lands mid-tour, between a Brooklyn Bowl stop on October 14 and a show at The Vogel in Red Bank on October 17. The East Coast run follows twelve West Coast dates through the summer and fall, including stops at The Bellwether in Los Angeles, Crystal Ballroom in Portland, and WOW Hall in Eugene. The band built its reputation on the California club circuit before expanding to venues across the country. Relix Magazine ran a feature on them in 2023, and Jambase has followed the project for years. The fanbase (who call themselves Fingerheads) travels.
The band releases live recordings from their travels at a steady pace. Live at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox (Denver, November 2025) was the fourth in an ongoing live series, following the double album Live at the Chapel San Francisco from earlier that year. Live at Lark Hall Albany is already in the catalog. This show adds to it.
Venue & Logistics
Lark Hall is at 351 Hudson Avenue in Albany, a reliable room on the capital region circuit. JMF has played and recorded here before; that already tells you something about how the room sounds when the set is moving. Doors open at 7 p.m. The show runs four hours. Free parking is available. All ages; under 18 with a parent or legal guardian.
