Benjamin Tod is the kind of songwriter who makes you feel like the song was written specifically about something you have never told anyone. The frontman of Lost Dog Street Band and one of Americana’s most emotionally unsparing voices is bringing his solo project — the Benjamin Tod and the Inline Six 2026 Tour — to Higher Ground in South Burlington on Thursday, October 8. A second night follows on October 9, making this a rare two-night stand worth building a trip around.
About Benjamin Tod
Tod works in outlaw folk and Americana with a literary core — blending country, folk, and Appalachian storytelling into music that is raw, intimate, and disarmingly honest. His lyrics go after the kind of material people usually leave unspoken: personal struggle, hard-won redemption, the full weight of where you have been. He has described his most recent work with characteristic directness: “This latest record is so unusual for what I do. It’s almost a spite album, to prove what I can do as a writer in whatever medium I step into.” That kind of artistic confidence tends to produce great nights.
Candi Jenkins opens both nights of the stand. The show is all ages.
About Higher Ground
Higher Ground’s Ballroom in South Burlington is one of the best live music rooms in the Northeast, and if you have not made the drive up to Vermont for a show there, this two-night stand is a compelling reason to finally do it. The venue is on Williston Road in South Burlington — straightforward to find, easy to get in and out of. Doors open at 8:00 PM with the show starting at 8:30 PM.
If you are making the drive from the North Country or points south, budget your time accordingly and consider turning it into a weekend. Burlington rewards the detour.
