The Bacon Brothers at Clayton Opera House | August 22, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · July 14, 2026

There are acts that have built a thirty-year touring career largely on their own terms, and the Bacon Brothers deserve more credit for that than they typically receive. Kevin Bacon’s screen career is not a secret, and it is not entirely irrelevant — it is almost certainly how some portion of the audience at a 400-seat Thousand Islands theater first encounters the name. But Michael Bacon’s Emmy-winning compositional work and the three decades the two brothers have spent refining their hybrid “forosoco” sound are what actually sustain this enterprise. The band arrives at the Clayton Opera House for a two-night stand on August 22 and 23, 2026, part of the People in the World Tour.

About The Bacon Brothers

Kevin and Michael Bacon were raised in Philadelphia, and the city’s musical identity has never entirely left their work. Over twelve albums and more than three decades, they have built a sound they call “forosoco” — folk, rock, soul, and country pressed into something that resists easy shelving. The influences are audible: 1970s singer-songwriter economy, Philly soul warmth, traces of classic rock, fingerpicked folk underneath it all. Kevin handles percussion and vocals; Michael plays guitar, writes, and composes. They have played Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and Gruene Hall. They have headlined in Japan. That is the resume of a duo that no longer requires the celebrity-sideproject qualifier, even if that qualifier never entirely disappears in a headline.

The current album, Ballad of the Brothers, arrived in April 2024 — their twelfth studio record. The People in the World Tour takes its name from a fall 2025 single recorded with Mare, a Philadelphia vocalist, and Michael Bacon has described the song as evoking “the spirit of classic social anthems in the tradition of ‘We Are The World.'” That framing is ambitious, but the Philly soul lineage gives it something to stand on. The tour launched May 1 in Senatobia, Mississippi, and works through twenty confirmed dates before reaching the North Country in late August. Each stop carries a community recognition component through SixDegrees.org — fans nominate local “good humans” who are improving their communities, with honorees recognized at the show. It is a thoughtful mechanism for an act of this scale, and one that fits the intimacy of a room like Clayton’s considerably better than it would an amphitheater lawn.

Kevin Bacon, asked about the draw of live performance, put it plainly: “There’s something magical about sharing a special night like that with an audience, and that feeling is something you only get in a live show.” After thirty-plus years on the road, that reads as genuine conviction rather than press-cycle boilerplate. The catalog makes a reasonable argument for taking him at his word.

About Clayton Opera House

The Clayton Opera House sits at 405 Riverside Drive in Clayton, a Thousand Islands river town in the North Country. The venue holds 400 in a historic theater configuration — a room that tends to serve songwriter acts better than any amphitheater, where the half-distance between performer and audience disappears and the material has to carry its own weight. The Opera House’s 2026 season has included David Sedaris, Tig Notaro, and Sister Hazel alongside the Bacon Brothers, which tells you something about a programming sensibility comfortable with headliners whose cultural footprints exceed what the venue tier might suggest. That the brothers are booked for two consecutive nights here rather than one is worth noting — it reflects either the demand or a relationship with this particular room, and possibly both.

Tickets & Pricing

Tickets for the Saturday, August 22 show are available in three tiers: $76, $81, and $86. The August 23 performance is a separate event. Both shows begin at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available online at ClaytonOperaHouse.com or by calling the box office at 315-686-2200.
