Benson Boone at MVP Arena | July 16, 2026

The arithmetic of Benson Boone’s rise is almost disorienting. In 2021, he was an 18-year-old from Monroe, Washington who had just voluntarily walked away from a Top 24 slot on American Idol — a decision that looked eccentric at the time and prescient in retrospect. By 2024, “Beautiful Things” was the most-streamed song in the world. Now, at 23, he’s bringing the Wanted Man Tour to MVP Arena on Thursday, July 16, 2026 — a 17,500-seat indoor arena in downtown Albany that tends to separate acts who can actually fill the room from those who merely booked it.

About Benson Boone

The speed of Boone’s ascent has consistently outpaced critical attempts to categorize him. His 2024 debut, Fireworks & Rollerblades, arrived with “Beautiful Things” already embedded in the global pop consciousness — more than 3 billion streams, a number-one on the Billboard Global 200, 55 weeks on the Adult Contemporary chart, and a peak of number two on the Hot 100. The follow-up, American Heart (June 2025), confirmed the breakthrough wasn’t structural luck: it debuted at number two in the US and number one in Australia and New Zealand, cracking the top ten in ten countries. A Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, an MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act, a Billboard Music Award, and a Saturday Night Live debut followed in short order.

What distinguishes Boone live — beyond the backflips, which he executes mid-performance without dropping a vocal cue — is a range that draws comparisons to theatrical rock’s most operatic tradition. Those comparisons were stress-tested at Coachella 2025, where he performed “Bohemian Rhapsody” alongside Queen’s Brian May. He had also opened the final London date of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in June 2024, which remains one of the higher-pressure support slots of the decade. Whether Boone’s voice can hold that comparison over the course of a full arena headlining set is the more interesting question — and the one worth showing up to answer.

The Wanted Man Tour follows last year’s sold-out American Heart World Tour, launching July 7 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh before the Albany date. The Capital Region stop comes the day after a TD Garden show in Boston — major-market arena routing that reflects where Boone’s commercial standing actually sits, not where hype has placed him.

About MVP Arena

MVP Arena occupies 51 South Pearl Street in downtown Albany, a 17,500-seat indoor venue that has long served as the Capital Region’s primary answer to where major touring acts land when they’re not routing straight between New York City and Boston. It is a room that rewards artists who know how to use scale — the production demands are real — and that punishes those who don’t. For an act at Boone’s current level of commercial momentum, it is the correct and unsurprising booking.
