About City of the Sun
City of the Sun — John Pita on lead guitar, Zach Para on drums, Matt Fasano on bass, and Marco Bolfelli on guitar — built their following the old-fashioned way: street performances in New York City parks, then grinding through clubs until they sold out Brooklyn Steel and Irving Plaza. Their music blends indie rock, folk, flamenco, blues, and desert rock without a single lyric in the way. They describe their sound as “intimate and cinematic — like a film you can step inside,” and after 120 million streams across their catalog, a lot of people clearly agree.
The new album, Under the Moon — out April 24, 2026 — is a 13-track set produced by Phil Ek, whose credits include Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, and Built to Spill. It’s a conceptual counterpoint to their debut, To the Sun and All the Cities In Between, pulling in Latin folk, surf rock, and spaghetti western textures alongside the post-rock foundation they’ve been building since their 2016 debut. Critics describe the record as creating “vivid imagery” that “encourages a sense of travel” — which tracks for a band that has performed at major festivals and toured with Thievery Corporation and STS9. Their North American Tour 2026 has already seen sold-out stops, so the Showcase Lounge date is worth securing early.

Higher Ground in South Burlington is one of the better live rooms in the North Country. This show lands in the Showcase Lounge — a more focused room that suits an act like City of the Sun, where the dynamics run wide and you want to be close enough to watch Pita work.
