Darude made “Sandstorm” in 1999 using tracker software on a PC in Finland. It hit number one in Finland, reached number three on the UK Singles Chart, spent 22 weeks in the top 100, and now sits at more than 300 million YouTube views. The Finnish trance producer closes out a late-2026 North American run at Photo City Music Hall on Friday, December 11.
About the Show
Before the Storm, the 2000 debut album, reached number one in Finland, sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide, and earned three Finnish Grammy Awards. “Feel the Beat,” the follow-up single, reached number five in the UK. “Sandstorm” peaked at number five on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, earned RIAA platinum certification, and sold over two million copies worldwide. The discography continued through Rush (2003), Label This! (2007), and Moments (2015), with touring that took him to Tomorrowland and Parookaville.
Together, released November 3, 2023, on his own Vibing Out label, was the first studio album in eight years, and also the most collaborative of his career. The 12-track collection spans melodic trance (“Kaleidoscope,” “Endless Wave”), electro-house, and house built around organic textures, with featured artists including Gid Sedgwick, OskR, Bianca, Leah-Lou, Paenda, and Evan Henzi. Some of the material had been in development for decades: “Endless Wave” started in 2000, “Alive” in 1999, “Fairytale” in 2007. Darude described selecting the tracks as “partially like closing a book — cleaning the slate.” The “Outlaws” collaboration drew particular notice; the album overall carries what coverage called “dynamic rushes, rave energy” designed for the dancefloor.
He also represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019. Rochester is the latest stop on a late-2026 North American leg that began in August in Seattle and also hit Tucson, San Francisco, and Denver. Detroit’s Magic Stick Lounge is the next night, December 12.
