The grunge era closed with a tragedy in 1994. Nu-metal’s most emotionally loaded chapter ended the same way, with Chester Bennington’s death in 2017. The catalogs those losses left behind have belonged, in the years since, almost entirely to tribute acts willing to carry them forward — and on December 6, Rochester gets three of those acts on a single bill. Lost Anchor Media brings Nirvanna, Crawling, and With Arms Wide Open to Photo City Music Hall: a night that maps the full alternative rock arc from the early Seattle scene through early-2000s nu-metal to the post-grunge catalog of Creed.
About the Show
Nirvanna, based in Orlando and globally touring since 2015, headlines with what the band bills as “the most accurate, theatrical replication” of Nirvana, incorporating actual archival video of the band and ranging across the full catalog, with promotional material noting particular attention to the debut record Bleach. The band is listed on Live Nation as a touring act and has played House of Blues rooms, festival stages, and casino venues across the United States, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
Crawling, also Orlando-based, was founded in early 2023 specifically to honor Bennington’s memory, and performs early Linkin Park’s genre-blending mix of rap, rock, and electronic elements with the crowd-sing-along energy reviewers note begins from the opening number. Since launching, the band has built a coast-to-coast touring footprint that includes Live Nation rooms and festival stages, and promotional material describes them as “one of the most in-demand tribute acts in America.”
With Arms Wide Open rounds out the night as the Creed tribute, fronted by a vocalist described in promotional material as channeling Scott Stapp’s voice “with chilling accuracy” and backed by a guitarist recreating Mark Tremonti’s tone. The set covers Creed’s arena anthems, including Higher, What If, and Bullets, alongside ballads including My Sacrifice, One Last Breath, and With Arms Wide Open.
All three acts have played Live Nation rooms and festival stages in their own right. The bill is not a local homage exercise but a showcase of tribute acts that have built real road careers on these catalogs.
