Four Year Strong’s Rise or Die Trying turned 20 in 2027, and for a record that helped define a micro-genre nobody quite knew what to call yet, the anniversary is earned. The band are marking both milestones — the album’s 20th and their own 25th year — with a spring tour that performs it front to back each night. The Albany date falls one stop before the hometown finish.
About the Show
The Worcester, Massachusetts quartet — vocalists and guitarists Dan O’Connor and Alan Day, bassist Joe Weiss, and drummer Jake Massucco — has been at this since 2001, building their audience through hard touring and D.I.Y. releases before “easycore” had a name: pop-punk’s melodic architecture delivered at hardcore’s weight and pace. Rise or Die Trying, their 2007 release on I Surrender Records, peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, commercial numbers that sat below the album’s actual footprint in the scene it helped define.
For the Rise or Die Trying 25th Anniversary Tour (31 dates, March 20 through April 30), Four Year Strong will perform the album in full each night, then dig into 25 years of catalog for deep cuts and setlist rarities the band says don’t often make the live set. When announcing the dates, they wrote: “2027 is a big year for us. Not only have we had 25 years as a band…but also 20 years ago we released Rise Or Die Trying, the record that started everything for us.” They’ve also described the album as the record that “gave us the foundation for everything that came after.” Their most recent release, Analysis Paralysis, arrived in August 2024 on Pure Noise Records. Drug Church, Heart Attack Man, and Sunbloc are all confirmed for the Albany date.
Venue & Logistics
Empire Live sits on North Pearl Street in downtown Albany. As a standing-room venue, it’s a natural match for a band whose catalog rewards involvement over observation. Show time is 7 p.m. For Capital Region audiences, April 29 is the closest date on the schedule: the penultimate stop before Four Year Strong closes the tour the following night at Citizens House of Blues in Boston, the hometown finale.
