Thursday at Empire Live | January 21, 2027

By Marc Delacroix · October 7, 2026

Thursday built Full Collapse in 2001 and spent the decade after watching bands they clearly influenced — My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Paramore — find their way into arenas Thursday never claimed. The scale mismatch was never the point. When they bring the Full City Devolución tour to Empire Live on January 21, it will be the third and final U.S. leg of a run that has them playing three landmark albums in a single night, in venues chosen for their personal significance.

About the Show

The Full City Devolución covers three albums that trace the full arc of the band’s first run: the 25th anniversary of Full Collapse (2001), the breakthrough record on Victory Records that put “Understanding in a Car Crash” in heavy rotation and established them as an emo cornerstone; the 20th of A City By The Light Divided (2006), the Dave Fridmann-produced pivot into atmospheric density; and the 15th of No Devolución (2011), the post-rock-influenced departure that preceded a decade-plus hiatus. Shows on this final leg are structured as two-set events with setlists curated for each date and broken into acts. Titus Andronicus opens every show — Thursday has called them “one of our favorite bands of all time.” VIP packages are available for the first time in the tour’s run.

The current touring lineup: Geoff Rickly on vocals, Steve Pedulla on rhythm guitar, Tucker Rule on drums, and Norman Brannon (of Texas is the Reason) on lead guitar. The band broke a 13-year recording silence in 2024 with the singles “Application for Release from the Dream” and “White Bikes.” On committing to a third leg after the response to the first two runs: “Our hearts have never been fuller than when we toured Full City Devolucion this year… we saw all your messages about how you wanted more, so who are we to reply no to the people we love.”

Venue & Logistics

The Albany date sits mid-run in a tight Northeast corridor: Brooklyn January 19, Baltimore January 20, Albany January 21, Providence January 23, Hampton Beach January 24. Every venue on this leg, the band has said, “is laced with tradition and has deep personal meaning to us.” Empire Live at 93 N. Pearl Street is a standing-room house in the Capital Region, and Thursday plays there at 7:30 p.m.
