Here is the kind of show that makes a December Saturday worth planning around: Dar Williams brings the Hummingbird Highway World Tour 2026 to Cohoes Music Hall on Saturday, December 5 at 8:00 PM. In a 350-seat historic theater in the Capital District, every seat is going to feel close.
About Dar Williams
Over 25 years and 13 albums, Dar Williams has built the kind of career that makes critics reach for superlatives. The New Yorker called her “one of America’s very best songwriters.” Her breakthrough album The Honesty Room caught Joan Baez’s attention early on — and she has been playing to devoted rooms ever since, logging more than 2,000 shows over her career.
Her latest record, Hummingbird Highway — her 13th album, released September 2025 on Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records — takes its title from a road in Belize. Williams was visiting a spice farm near Mayan ruins when a driver pointed out three routes and called the middle one the Hummingbird Highway. The name stuck. The hummingbird, she has said, is a symbol of migration, constant refueling, and finding your way back home — about as good a metaphor for a folk songwriter who never stops touring as you are going to find.
The album draws on folk-rock, Latin-jazz, Americana, and labor-history songwriting, and the critical response has been strong. On playing live, Williams has said the goal is “to get to another place musically together with the audience.” In a 350-seat room on a December night, that kind of show is exactly what you want.
